Zoo

Zoo

Contrary to popular belief, San Antonio club Gala Night did not actually start out as a zoo, although the promoters who have taken it over and turned it into one of the islands best loved spots for daytime clubbing, have certainly latched on to that idea. The faux zoological history of Gala Night has given many of the events there a ‘zoo’ theme and triggering an unspoken fancy dress rule, often with hilarious, caged animal type results

The venue is unique and is now rivalling Space for the outdoors clubbing experience, something which is as much an essential part of Ibiza as the hangover you’re going to have on the plane home. Parties are held throughout the season at Gala Night and the club is particularly popular with the British (maybe because of the dressing up?). Gala Night is just outside San Antonio in the Benimussa Hills so there’s no problem with noise restrictions and you can pretty much party your way uninterrupted through the day and the night at Gala Night. If by the time darkness falls you’re in need of some sustenance, there’s often a BBQ, and the layout of the location offers plenty of chill out areas and seating to rest weary legs before the next red bull kicks in.

The club itself is mostly outdoors with a swimming pool, outdoor decks and plenty of sunshine-drenched dancing space. It’s at night time when the atmosphere at the club really ramps up, with clubbers going mad for the beats on the manmade amphitheatre around the ‘Seal pit’ and making good use of any open water by throwing themselves in. Although the area was apparently never a zoo, there are animal enclosures and pools, which have been left to the tigers and sharks of club land and make for interesting scenery and a unbelievable unusual raving experience.
